Michael Collins
Michael Collins grew up in Valdez, Alaska, in the halcyon days before the Exxon Valdez foundered on Bligh Reef. After graduating from Stanford University he moved up the peninsula to San Francisco, where he wrote for Parenting and Adweek before beginning a career in advertising. After working for a handful of agencies around town he eventually opened a boutique shop of his own, landing accounts including Round Table Pizza and the San Francisco Zoo. Miffed when no gigantic international conglomerate insisted on buying him out for millions and millions of dollars during the first dot-com boom, he then moved to New York City, where he lives with his wife and their two cats in Greenwich Village. He has dabbled in publishing, authoring Santa Speaks for HarperCollins, and in theater – his latest play, For The Love of Damien Hirst, debuted at the Player’s Club, and he recently directed a production of Noel Coward’s Nude With Violin.
